Blocked by Big Rob – The Story Behind the Shirt

Blocked by Big Rob – The Story Behind the Shirt

Published: July 27, 2025

You speak up. You ask a question. You suggest maybe—just maybe—people deserve homes, parks, or the right to exist without being heckled on Facebook.

Blocked.

Welcome to the most exclusive club in Lismore: The Blocked by Big Rob Club.

And what better way to celebrate your induction than by wearing it loud?

Who is Big Rob?

Cr Robert Bou-Hamdan, known to locals as “Big Rob,” is a Lismore councillor, social media commentator, and self-declared watchdog of all things… well, outrage-worthy.

He’s known for his “investigations,” rants, and generous use of the block button on Facebook—especially if you:

  • Question his claims
  • Defend someone he’s targeting
  • Mention housing
  • Use the word “empathy” in a sentence

Why the Shirt?

The “Blocked by Big Rob – Certified Woke Edition” tee started as a satirical nod to what many community members were experiencing: silencing, ridicule, and selective outrage for daring to speak up.

What began as an inside joke quickly became something more:

  • A badge of honour
  • A soft but spicy clapback
  • And a fundraiser for truth-telling with flair

We wear it because being blocked for having a conscience is hilarious—and kind of powerful.

Stories from the Blocked™

“I got blocked for liking a post about tiny homes.”

“He posted a video mocking homeless people. I commented ‘Not okay.’ Blocked.”

“I asked him to stop filming women at protests. Boom. Gone.”

If you’ve been blocked by Big Rob, you’re not alone—and you’re probably doing something right.

Ethically Printed. Satirically Infused.

Each tee is:

  • Printed in small batches
  • Ethically made
  • 100% cotton
  • Certified Rob-proof (no guarantees on digital blocking)

Designed by the Hive. Approved by the woke.

The Bigger Picture

Satire stings. That’s the point.

This shirt is part of a bigger project to document and resist the silencing of community voices—especially women, young people, renters, and anyone Big Rob deems “unruly.”

So we’ll keep laughing. Keep posting.

And if we get blocked? Even better.

Stay sharp. Stay kind. Stay dangerous. The Hive lives.
